Why I Chose to be a Distributor for Young Living

So do you ever find out someone you know on Facebook or another social media avenue has become a distributor and quickly finding yourself resort to an eye roll that says, “Well, here we go.  Another fabulous product I can’t live without and I am crazy if I don’t try it.”?  If I can be honest, I certainly have.  We live in an age where everyone is researching the newest thing and once they have found it, it is TO DIE FOR!

When I became an independent distributor for Young Living Essential Oils, I knew I was officially in “that group”.  That group of people who only post about their business and what you are missing out on if you don’t jump in and order soon!  But wait, act now and I’ll throw in (fill in the blank)….for FREE!  I shudder to think I may have become that person in anyone’s mind.

The truth is, when I find something I am passionate about…I talk about it!  Generally, whether good or bad, that is what Facebook is all about, right?  You have the choice to read all about it or to scroll right on past.  I promise, I won’t hold it against you should you choose to do the latter.

When I realized all that Essential Oils could do, it was a HUGE light bulb moment for me.  When I ordered and received my starter kit, it was a HUGE light bulb moment for me.  When I decided I wanted to be a distributor for these oils, because they really do WORK, it was a HUGE light bulb moment for me.  When I was able to run over samples to my friend’s homes to help them with a queasy stomach or horrific headache, it was a HUGE light bulb moment for me.  How many times have you heard “I am sorry you don’t feel well, if there was something I could do, I would.”?

This is a company that has a product that isn’t about carrying around the latest fashion, cooking with the coolest gadgets, wearing the coolest jewelry or investing in something for just me. No…these products could benefit everyone and the company has been around for 20 years!  Essential Oils have done wonders for my skin care, hair care and diet.  They have eased up headaches, nausea, sore muscles, ear aches and much more.  They have helped curb my appetite and get me on track to a healthier lifestyle.  They have helped me get the best night’s rest I have had in YEARS.  They have enabled me to get off my anti-depressants prescriptions of 8 YEARS!  And that is just ME…the same oils that do these things for me have helped my family in countless ways!  Young Living, for me, isn’t about another latest fad that has the potential to supplement our income (though it does).  It is discovering, exploring and testing out ways that I can use 100% pure oils to guard the health of my family as well as myself.  We are talking OVERALL health too!  There is always going to be an essential oil that can help with something and I love being the mom that my family comes to in order to find out which one!

Why wouldn’t I want to share?  Now, hear me when I say…my family still eats at fast food restaurants.  We are not health nuts (I say that with utmost respect) who refuse to ever eat anything classified as “junk”.  We do not exercise regularly (though I have taken up running lately and am thoroughly enjoying it).  We do our best, but we also love convenience!

So, when you see me post about essential oils, please do me a favor.  Try to go easy on me, okay?  Oils are extremely addicting…especially after you discover how well they work!  We do all have passions…mine just happens to be one that I get to share and help support my family financially in the process!  Outside of that, essential oils have really become a part of our everyday life (hubby included…he loves using them and often calls me Mama Smurf…ha!).

I wish there was a way around becoming one of “those” people.  Maybe someday, if you try essential oils, you will look back and think “Aha!”…that would actually be pretty cool!  But if not, please love me and just scroll on past my oily messages.  I promise intermingled in there will be updates on my family and how we are doing with occasional pictures and videos as proof!

Water Fun!

We had water fun on Saturday over at Aunt Chelle's new place.  We had so much fun!  Although I am not sure Bryson cared for the initial coolness of the water (he gets it VERY honestly), everyone else had a blast.  The pictures say it all :-)

I think it is safe to say that July is our favorite month of the whole year!

We Do Fun...and Then Some!

Our family loves to laugh...we love to smile...we love to have fun!  Some of my favorite moments are when the kids start laughing uncontrollably.  Their laughter is contagious.  It doesn't take long for a small little giggle to turn into a rupture of laughter from the whole family!

We do fun.  We love to spend time together doing familiar things as well as new things.  These days it is so easy to sit your children down in front of a television or computer and allow hours of entertainment to pass.  Don't get me wrong...we do watch 'shows' in our home; but it doesn't dominate our time together.

This summer, our bucket list has helped keep us on track.  Adam and I both are committed to making memories with each of the activities we have planned.  It's true...sometimes fun just happens.  Other times, fun needs a little nudge in the right direction.

Our fun times happen in the big and small things.  Whether playing a game, coloring, enjoying a special snack, or taking a trip to somewhere special, there are memories are in the making.  We want our children to enjoy life.  To embrace our time together and invest in our family.  That doesn't just happen on its own.  They say if you don't have a target, you will miss the mark every time.  There is so much truth to that in life.  As we live life on purpose, we choose to enjoy fun times together.  We may have to get silly, crazy, and act like a kid...but it is always worth it.

Our children do love electronics, but those things don't put the sparkle in their little eyes like time spent with the people they love.  Seeing those sparkling eyes is worth more than all the diamonds money can buy...it's priceless!

We love to act crazy...here is a video we took a few days ago.  Believe me, all pride was left at the door (and usually is when it comes to dancing with the kids), but our love for fun remains intact!  :-)

We actually ate lunch afterwards and guess what we had?  That's right...Peanut Butter & Jelly Sandwiches!

Fun in the Sun (and Shade)

Our home is complete for the next few weeks and we are so excited!  We spent a lot of time together over the weekend and completed one thing on our Summer Bucket List...Make a Crazy Hopscotch!  There are a few activities that are listed for us to do while Daddy is at work, but he wanted in on this one.  We started all at the same spot and then each made our own to branch off of start.  There is a tree in our neighbors yard that provided shade for us the entire morning (which always helps when you have kids who are warm-natured).  Here are a few shots of our hopscotch design:

And then, of course, there is the video we took of Bryson getting to take part in the fun!

Happy Saturday!

We stayed busy today and yet had so much fun!  We accomplished several things on our bucket list, except this time we got to do them with Daddy!  Adam got up with the kids this morning and let me sleep in...he is sweet like that.  Not only did I get to sleep in until 9:45, but there were cinnamon rolls and a glass of milk at my bedside when I woke up!  I truly love this man...he is extremely thoughtful.

We got ready and went out to eat lunch at McDonald's before heading to the Nature Center.  The kids enjoyed seeing the different exhibits as well as little critters.  They got to see fish, turtles, snakes, lizards and an owl...we thought the owl was sleeping with one eye open, but then he turned his head.  It got hot while we went on the nature trail so we headed back to the van to go get snow cones!

As we sat hanging out and eating our snow cones (in the nice air conditioning, I might add), the sugar rush hit pretty quickly!  The kids started getting silly and had a silly face picture session!  Caleb was hilarious!

After such a busy morning and early afternoon, it was time for some quiet time...for the kids AND us!  Adam and I got to spend some couch time together and I managed to get in a nap.  Emma is turning 5 on Monday, so we wanted to get her a birthday cake.  She doesn't know about it yet.  We are going to do a mini-celebration after lunch tomorrow. When she comes back in a couple of weeks, we will have her actual birthday party :-) ...I went to the store to pick up snacks for our movie night and her birthday cake.  There was no time wasted in this house while I was out!

Adam made paper airplanes and gliders with the kids.  They decorated them and spent a lot of time on them.  It was so fun watching them fly them outside.  Adam's landed on the roof, which gave him a reason to climb up there and test his airplane from 'new heights'.  Making airplanes is a part of our bucket list and I was so glad Adam got to do this one with the kids.  He knows a whole lot more about that stuff than I do!

Our day ended with another bucket list item...Snacks and a Movie!  We had yummy snacks as our dinner and watched a Tinkerbell movie (yes, Emma and Caleb both wanted to watch it...he isn't quite old enough to know there are a whole lot of other options).  On movie nights we started using a play pen awhile back as their 'tent' to sit in while watching the movie.  It has become the norm, a tradition they love!

Emma and Caleb are heading back to Kentucky tomorrow.  We will miss them a lot but get to see them again in 2 weeks!  The bucket list will be put on hold until then :-)  I love our family!

At the Nature Center

 Checking out the Exhibits

Even Bryson was interested in all there was to see!

These 2 pictures were taken by Emma.  She has become quite the photographer!  She told us to look like "married people" while taking the picture :-) ...at one point she told us to act like we were "married people dancing".

 Time for Snow Cones!

Emma and Caleb got cool spoons that change colors.  When putting it in the ice, it turned purple.  Once they put it in their mouth, it turned back to pink...Adam and I were jealous we got regular spoons :-(

 HAHA!!  Caleb had us rolling!

Emma joined in on the fun...now THAT'S a silly face!

 Making paper airplanes with Daddy!

Time for snack and movie night!  3 peas in a pod!

Poor Bryson is barely in the picture...he was too busy stuffing cheese in his mouth to care!
